Contained Vitamins and Minerals
We’ve already covered what salmon contains, but what about the other ingredients in this recipe?
Spinach serves as a side dish rich in fiber. It contains a decent amount of magnesium, iron, and manganese, as well as B vitamins.
Quinoa is often referred to as a superfood. It is not a grain, making it gluten-free. It is rich in amino acids, proteins, and minerals, providing an excellent source of energy.
Pumpkin seed oil provides essential fatty acids and vitamins for dogs. It supports cardiovascular health and helps slow down the aging of brain cells. The VetAminex vitamin and mineral supplement offers a complete range of vitamins and minerals, making it an excellent addition to a dog’s daily diet, particularly for homemade meals. Ground eggshells for dogs serve as a replacement for raw bones, as they are an excellent source of calcium.
Instructions
Steam the salmon. After cooking, let the meat cool or place it in a bag and submerge it in ice to rapidly change its temperature. This enhances the flavor of the meat.
Steam the leaf spinach as well. Once cooked, you can blend it if desired.
Cook the quinoa in water (follow the ratio specified on the packaging). It is prepared similarly to rice.
Once all the ingredients have cooled, portion the food into freezer bags and freeze it.
Always add the dietary supplements fresh on the day you prepare the meal.
Daily Portion of Cooked Food for Dogs
When starting a cooked diet for your dog, it’s recommended to follow the daily portion guideline of 2–3% of the dog’s body weight. Over time, monitor your dog to ensure they maintain their desired weight, and adjust the portion size as needed.
Here’s an example of a recommended daily portion for a 10 kg dog with a daily feeding amount of 250 g. The recipe follows the suggested ingredient ratio: 65% meat, 25% vegetables, and 10% side dishes.
To measure the correct amount of food, it’s best to use a kitchen scale. For dogs with sensitive digestion, it’s advisable to divide the daily portion into smaller meals and feed them multiple times a day (2–3 times).
Ingredients | Amount for 250 g |
Cooked salmon | 162.5 g (65%) |
Spinach | 62.5 g (25%) |
Quinoa | 25 g (10%) |
Pumpkin seed oil | approx. 5 ml |
